Swiss Maid Fudge is a 2nd generation old-fashioned candy store that first opened its doors in 1962. From its original recipe of handmade fudge to a complete line of gourmet chocolates and candies, the Wisconsin-based confectionery retailer has grown to serve a nationwide clientele.

The Situation: Swiss Maid Fudge had an extremely loyal in-store customer base that loved the company’s products, but wanted to expand its online presence to introduce the company’s products nationwide. Swiss Maid had very little online traffic and an inconsistent online brand that didn’t capitalize on the company’s strengths.

The Solution: Cake redesigned the Swiss Maid website, showcasing the family-owned company's commitment to quality chocolate. Stronger imagery highlighted the creamy, rich flavors and appealed to their visitors' sweet tooth. Cake also created a social media program including Twitter, Facebook and company blog, all of which contributed to search engine optimization and built brand awareness. Finally, Cake managed customer-centric campaigns centering around breast cancer, nutrition, and holiday gifting to promote new products and community involvement.

The Results: A refined online presence appealed to external bloggers, who were able to participate in brand-building through "tasting parties" in which they sampled and wrote about Swiss Maid products. The company's Facebook fan base increased by over 500 fans in the first 3 months, and social media mentions improved over 800%. Overall site traffic increased month-over-month an average of 75%.
